Most rental cars in Cardiff come covered in bright yellow stickers and company logos. At The Loamy Cape, we do things differently. Our 11 SUVs are kept completely plain. When you drive to a client meeting or a hotel in the Brecon Beacons, you look like the owner of the vehicle, not a tourist in a hire car. We started this service in 2017 because we saw local business owners needed a quiet, professional way to get around without the 'rental' look.

Built for Welsh roads and site visits

Our fleet is chosen for practical use. We currently run Land Rover Defender 110s and Volvo XC90s. These vehicles handle the narrow lanes and wet weather of South Wales easily. If you are heading to a construction site or a rural estate, the all-wheel drive system is ready. Every SUV in our Park Lane lot has at least 640 litres of boot space. This fits 4 large suitcases or a full set of surveying gear without needing to fold the rear seats down.

Delivery to your office in Cardiff

You can collect your car from our office at 15 Park Lane, but most of our regular clients prefer delivery. We can drop the SUV at your office or home within 12 miles of Cardiff city centre. One of our team members, often Mark or Sian, will bring the car over, walk you through the controls for 10 minutes, and leave you the keys. We aim to have the car on your driveway at least 25 minutes before your scheduled start time.

How we handle the keys and fuel

Honesty is a big part of how we work. Every car is hand-washed and vacuumed before it reaches you. We also provide a full tank of fuel. You just bring it back full. We don't use those complicated fuel service charges that larger companies use. If you have a specific request, like a child seat or a roof rack for a weekend trip to the coast, we usually need about 48 hours' notice to get it fitted and checked.

Clear pricing with no hidden fees

We provide a written quote before you commit to anything. A typical 24-hour hire for a premium SUV costs between £148 and £182 depending on the season and the specific model. This includes insurance for one driver and a 150-mile daily allowance. If you are planning a longer trip up to Scotland or across to London, we can adjust the mileage limit for a small fixed fee. We won't surprise you with 'premium location' fees or 'valeting' charges at the end of the week.
